Everything bands and engineers ask before doors: how sets and cues work, how each desk takes a scene recall, and what to check when a MIDI export doesn't land.

Console mapping guides

Set the desk up once, then map channels and levels on /console.

Behringer · Midas

X32 / M32

MIDI Rx channel

Max scene
100
Scene 1
PC 0

Setup → global → MIDI: enable RtnMIDI + Program Change. Scene 1 = PC 0, so every value below is scene-1.

Behringer

WING

MIDI Rx channel
1
Bank select
CC0, banks of 128
Max scene
512
Scene 1
PC 0

Setup → Show Control → MIDI: set Rx channel to 1. Shows above 128 need the Bank Select (CC0) message first.

Allen & Heath

SQ / Avantis

MIDI Rx channel

Bank select
CC0, banks of 128
Max scene
300
Scene 1
PC 0

Setup → MIDI: match the Rx channel. A&H scene recall is CC0 bank + Program Change, scene 1 = bank 0 / PC 0.

dLive

MIDI Rx channel

Bank select
CC0, banks of 128
Max scene

Scene 1
PC 0

Utility → Control → MIDI: enable scene recall over MIDI/TCP. Bank Select (CC0) then Program Change.

  1. 1. Enable MIDI receive and program change on the desk, matching the Rx channel above.
  2. 2. Store a base scene on the desk for each song, using the numbers from your set.
  3. 3. On /console, pick the desk and map each cue to its real channel and level.
  4. 4. Walk the set in scene walk mode, then export from /export and load the file.

MIDI export troubleshooting

The desk ignores the file entirely.

Likely cause

MIDI receive or program change is disabled on the console.

Fix

Enable MIDI Rx and Program Change in the desk's setup page, and confirm the Rx channel matches the channel Bandjama exports on (channel 1 by default).

Every scene recalls one number too low or too high.

Likely cause

Off-by-one between scene numbers and program change values.

Fix

Scene 1 = PC 0 on all supported desks. Bandjama already subtracts one — if you also offset the desk's own scene list, remove that offset on one side.

Scenes above 128 never fire.

Likely cause

Missing Bank Select on desks that page scenes in banks of 128.

Fix

WING, SQ/Avantis and dLive need CC0 (bank) before the program change. Pick the correct desk on /export so the bank message is written into the file.

Two cues recall the same desk state.

Likely cause

Duplicate scene numbers across songs and cues.

Fix

Run the scene plan check on /export — it lists collisions. Renumber with headroom (11, 21, 31 for songs; 12, 13 for cues inside song 11).

A cue shows in the playbook but not in the export.

Likely cause

The cue has no scene tag, so it's a manual instruction.

Fix

Add '→ Scene N' to the cue text if it should be a recall. Untagged cues intentionally stay hand-ridden and are listed in the audit.

Recalls fire, but the wrong channels move.

Likely cause

Console map doesn't match the desk's real input list.

Fix

Open /console, pick the desk, and map each cue to its actual channel and level. Use scene walk mode to step the whole set and check every fader move before doors.

Timing drifts across the set.

Likely cause

Song lengths in the setlist don't match how the band plays them.

Fix

Timestamps in the export are offsets from the top of the set. Use the file as scene ordering, not a timecode master, unless the show runs to click.
